EKO SYSTEM Environmental Knowledge Organizer

EKO-System Configurable and Secure Features

river-picEKO-System, the Environmental Knowledge Organizer, is a web-based project tracking and versatile mapping system with a public portal designed to foster transparency, accountability and efficiency in the natural resource industry. The EKO-System solution offers an effective and interactive management tool for any organization involved in recovery activities at a watershed, state, regional or national scale.

EKO-System provides robust project management attributes

EKO-System was developed to help project managers facilitate cooperation among stakeholders. This has resulted in accountability and transparency that is both qualitative and quantitative. Several EKO-System features streamline this process and help to communicate and enhance project information.

These features include:

Public Portal

A custom public portal provides policy makers, funders, the general public and other stakeholders access  to your organization's project information.  Depending on the security level chosen, users can display any project or aspects of a project for public view.   As such, the portal fosters transparency and provides the ability to visually communicate their projects most current information.

File Manager Repository

File repositories serve as your organization's online filing system, ensuring that all important files or documents, regardless of size or quantity are digitally stored and are easily accessible.

Project Export

EKO-System projects can be easily exported to view in standard Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Access or as HTML.  This flexibility allows users to share their project information with other agencies needing to implement or aggregate such information for their own purposes and in their own formats.

Project Validator

The project validator helps to standardize and ensure consistency among projects entered into the system by all users.  The benefit of this tool is the assurance that all relevant data entered is consistent among "like" users for easy comparison and to ensure adherence to programmatic implementation measures towards comprehensive recovery plans and strategies.

Project Hierarchy

Project Managers use the Project Hierarchy feature to communicate how projects relate to each other. Project Managers can attach small scale projects to large scale projects or programs to communicate their relationship.  In addition, attributes and metrics associated with small scale projects can be inherited by larger projects to show real time contribution to overall project objectives.  Many project managers choose to organize their projects by sub watershed.

Information Sharing & Security

Security managers within your organization determine individual user's security levels to safe-guard information.  Beyond these settings, security levels can be further determined by each user, project and event. This control, combined with a secure web-based interface, makes sharing information a safe process.

Replicated Database

Your organization can receive a copy of all data on a regular pre-defined frequency, or upon request, retaining both ownership and possession of all system data.
